Oh boy, so they finally made a remake of this classic? I suppose that it was only a matter of time. It’s funny how they only make remakes of the most successful shows. Please remember that a show’s success is rated by the amount of money it has made, not by what people actually think of it. That’s the cold, hard truth.
So yeah, I started watching and I wasn’t sure what to think of it. It’s a remake of something I’ve seen before as a boy, so I’m not sure if it’s worth watching again. I was surprised to see that the space ships in question looked a bit “plain”. I mean… They didn’t really stand out, you know? Sure, they did a great job on the details, ensuring that everything was redone accurately and smooth, but I just feel that they overdid it a little bit.
As for the story goes, well… It’s a remake. The story, in theory at least, should be somewhat the same as the original. That means that this anime has a whole lot of promise.
Do I recommend it? Yes. It is one of the first shows that I’ve seen as a boy, and I quite enjoyed it too. I’m sure a lot of people remember the name and will find it just as good as I will. I will give the anime a try, relive some good memories and see where they’re going with this remake.
Plot Summary: The year is 2199. The human race has been crushed in their war with the Gamilos, driven into underground cities by the invader’s assault. Scientists estimate they have only a year left. The young officers Susumu Kodai and Daisuke Shima receive a mysterious capsule from a ship that made an emergency landing on Mars and return with it to Earth. It contains humanity’s last hope: the planet Iscandar on the other side of the Magellan Galaxy has the technology to defeat the Gamilos and restore the planet. The space battleship Yamato is entrusted with this task, but they have only one year before humanity ends.
